Greetings, Investing time to listen/watch/(and pay for) a webinar is risky business... I know that. You're busy, and time is precious. So the question is? Should you bother to attend any of the webinars we're offering on a monthly basis? It's a good question

It's all below, the good and the 'bad' and EVEN the 'ugly' - we've only removed some comments that were outside the scope of 'feedback' on the webinar. And... I've highlighted some of the 'choicer' comments.

Cheers

Agree that note-taking has been forgotten as a technique for absorbing knowledge.
-
Agreed, fundamentals are too often overlooked as people methodically trudge the well worn trench of habit! Excellent presentation Peter!!
-
As always a good presentation, reinforcing and re-introducing things that work and  presenting them in a new way makes them more useful  - Slides were a bit dark and murky - I have found the graphical slides more memorable - therefore a better aid to remembering the topics shared
-
As always, an entertaining and informative hour
-
Concrete examples were extremely helpful. And validating for me as to why I do some of the things I do myself to help remember info. I learned a great deal that I will put to use!
-
Definitely worth the investment of my time! Some things were reminders of what I already know (but do not always "DO"). Others were new. I particularly appreciated the specific tips to help build relationships. We remember relationships, not facts. Now I am going to share some of this with my son, who is  a college student. Thank you!
-
enjoyed this... as usual... a lot of good foundational items, reminders, etc.
-
Enjoyed your websinar (even though amongst Interruption and Multitasking). Thanks
-
Excellent - reinforced existing habits - should look at using anagrams for remembering
-
Excellent presentation. Thank you.
-
Excellent presentation. The information was well organized and presented in a very logical way. Even though it may appear to be common sense to some, you can't be reminded of or practice the basics too much. Every artist, sports figure, musician, etc. knows this and it's why they spend so much time practicing their craft. I really enjoyed this webinar and will 'teach' my colleagues what I learned. Thank you!
-
Excellent presentation... especially glad I was able to attend this one.
-
Excellent review and vital information
-
Excellent time management; great and practical hints
-
Excellent, please find a way to get it viral for teenagers! They need it for learning how to study! Thanks!
-
Excellent. always enjoy your candid approach to presentations. Also, good info, I definitely learned stuff. thx
-
Extremely boring
-
First Webinar that I attended by you. A lot of the items I do: especially writing and doodling during presentation. Take aways: create a structure and try to teach the items to someone else - always good to remember. I will attend in the future. Fundamental, but I agree that you need to keep reviewing fundamental items. Good work; one of the more enjoyable talks. Thank you.
-
Good information but the slides were so boring they put me to sleep.
-
Good one..thank you!
-
Good points -- this is one where text from slides, even without graphics, would be valuable. Also suggest you might try 6 to 10 minute chunks, with Q & A after each chunk
-
Good presentation. Need to be reminded of the basics. Thanks.
-
Good reminder and structure on connecting presenters and learners.
-
Good reminder of the basic active listening and presenting skills. For those of us who do not do this often, it's always good to review the techniques.
-
good reminders and good examples ..... will share some of this info with the high school robotics team I'm mentoring
-
Good summary of how to maximize the benefit from any presentation when live or online. BTW, another easy way to convert C to F is to double C, subtract 10%, and add 32 (e.g., -40C x2 =-80 -(-8) =-72 - (-32)=-40F.
-
Great tips
-
Great webinar; sure it was 'common sense', but so many of us have lost the fundamentals and think too deeply into a project. We need this 'reality check'.
Also, you spoke about interruptions; how does this apply to eating your lunch during a webinar?
-
I am a writer. Most are not that I work with. It was to have my method validated.
-
Pictures are worth 1,000 word or spreadsheets and have found this a great way to present a summary to my director or manager. The presenting back is an area I need to work on. Thank you for today. While I do things different to my peers, I am reassured my techniques are good ones to use. Colleen
-
I appreciate and ENJOY the common sense approach. I love your webinars because it makes me think that there are others out there that believe and know what I practice daily. And just so you know... I listen to the webinars with intent, not just for the PDU. :) And lastly, I always wondered why the written content was so "limited" Now I know... its so I take notes. Thanks! Definitely my take away!I do think you are hitting at the right level in terms of the level of the content and its usefulness.
-
I enjoyed it because while many points are common sense (as one viewer pointed out), how many of us really follow these steps Peter outlined? I think it was an excellent reminder of what we should be doing to try to retain more of the information we are exposed to.
-
I enjoyed the presentation - yes, maybe the memory tricks are common sense, except that for myself, I need to be reminded of them :) So Thank you!
-
I enjoyed the webinar. Yes, many of the things mentioned are common sense, but often many of us let the business of work and life supersede common sense. And it is presentations like today's that help us to utilize and then teach these common sense tips. In otherwords, become better learners and thus better teachers.
-
I found this webinar to be interesting. I do believe that the basics, no matter how simple, do need to be repeated. I am always amazed at how many people have never heard or remember the basics. I make it a point to have at least one take away from all the webinars or meetings or seminars I go to. Thanks.
-
I had to agree with the last caller... nothing new here for me.
-
i liked it - thought it was valuable; refresh on tools / techniques and also ownership of learning. Well done!
-
I liked the memory tips, some I knew already, but they have been reinforced. Sometimes you just need a reminder now and then.
-
Ignore the comment about the common sense bar. I appreciated the tips and tricks even the ones you helped me remember.
-
Imposed Structure: If you are listening to a boring speaker, think about how you would do it differently. Good thought to put a positive spin on it.
-
Interesting content and useful IMHO.
-
Interesting topic and worthy of repeating "Common Sense is not always so common".
-
It was a great webinar. Good advice utilize, then train as well as attitude.
-
It was EXCELLENT; a different twist on old ideas. Your power points are always VERY well done. interesting images, just the right amount of text. YAE YOU! It was your usual awesome. Thanks.
-
It would be helpful to provide your slides in advance. I like to print out presentations in advance and make notes of my own on it. - Helps me remember better with all the visual clues. (I'm much more of a visual rather than auditory learner.) Thanks!
-
Its was too good........
-
Keep it coming.
-
Key points which are helpful reminders for all. Sometimes you present the right information at the right time. Thanks again Peter.
-
Loads of learning points for me in this webinar. I am already thinking how I can restructure a corporate presentation that has to be rolled out to the whole organization. Thanks
-
Nice Job!
-
Peter it is always a pleasure listening to you speak, I've seen you present in person and it must be your voice which keeps me interested...this was a hard one to stay focused on but I stayed with you, most is a refresher. Thanks for you time today.
-
Really useful session - with today's focus on multitasking, very helpful.
-
reinforced my knowledge on this topic
-
Sadly, I wasn't able to enjoy the entire session -- one of those lovely interruptions you were speaking about. What I did get was very informative.
-
Session was thoughtful, practical, and a good reminder for some excellent techniques.
-
Speaker was very well versed in the topic. More detail on the slides may make it easier to follow.
-
such a telling statement (paraphrase) You have a right to your lunch and to use it as you choose.
-
Thank you - the tips about taking 1 thing home, and doing a trip report were new ideas for me.
-
Thank you ! I think that there was probably something for each of us to take away from the presentation. I think that we forgotten some of the tools on how we have learned some of the things/concepts in our live. - Like your Jars phrase. Thanks for engaging us and helping us to personalize how we remember.
- .
Thank you for another terrific webinar. Even though some of the info is common sense it's important to revisit and review the foundation and fundamentals. Looking forward to next time and thank you again.
-
Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this webinar - great food for thought -glad to know the reason behind my writing notes - it makes sense
-
Thanks for a well thought out presentation delivered with honesty and openness.
-
Thanks for providing this service - I will implement one thing from it!
-
Thanks for that. I go to conferences and take notes all the way through - for me it was a way to stay focused on the speaker. Now I will take them to the next step. Also, while this may be common sense, a lot of it was new to me and I value it. That discovered structure is neat and you are right, that's how I remember pins, phone numbers etc Thanks,
-
The final topic of teaching what one learned is my "take away" -the key is effort/interest/will on my part: I need to cultivate personal habits The tips were are all quite useful and easy to implement. Thanks a lot.
-
These monthly webinars are excellent. Yes, I join for the PDUs but I do listen and always come away having learned something useful.
-
This was a good tool for ensuring value of any workshop, presentation, or even just plain old meetings. It confirmed something that I do, which is take notes and make reminders to myself. It also gave me a new tool to think about and try--repurposing the ideas using constructs that I know, such as the Capability Maturity Model. Good workshop--I enjoyed it and learned from it.
-
This was a great presentation for presentation attendees (how to listen) and presenters (how to teach). Thanks!
-
This was my first webinar that I attended. I thought you did an excellent job of taking what appears a mundane topic and making it relevant with tips. I can use this info at work or home with my kids! Thanks so much for making this free to anyone.
-
This was my first. I found it helpful in that it reinforced some of the things I have already put into practice and identified a few others that I had not really thought about or considered.
-
This webinar would be great to publish - as a way of refreshing our knowledge as Peter noted.
-
very enlightening and valuable info, keep them coming, thanks
-
Very good session! I make my notes! I heard in the German Radio that doodle something might also help if it is not related to the speech. A univeristy professor collected the doodle of his students after the lessons and compares this with their mark and the result was, that the dooleing students got the better results....
-
Very informative, such a common sense approach.
-
Very informative.
-
Very memorable presentation. Pace was perfect and speaker very engaging.
-
Very well thought and prepared presentation! It was very helpful to assist someone with learning how to learn from webinars, seminars, etc. and tricks to remember for future use! Looking forward to the next Webinar from Peter!
-
Was an uplifting reminder of the common sense approaches we sometimes forget. Nice job!
-
yes - this was my first webinar with you - I learned a lot. Will re-read my notes soon.
-
Yes, common sense but if it was so common we wouldn't need to be reminded!
-
yes, fundamentals are best and this was a great refresher - especially because the multiple fundamentals (in my experience) originally came from other sources, whereas you have placed them in a different order (or... structure!). And, you offered a few great tips along the way, including Clean Up Your Desk... hmmm....yes, it was very KIS(S) but you pretty much touched on what's been working for me for years intuitively. Simple yes, but brilliant! Look forward to more.
-
Yes, most of the webinar was "just common sense" so why are the "Dummies" books so popular? We always need to be reminded of our common sense because it is so common we forget about it. Thanks for a quite interesting webinar.
-
Yes. Very helpful. I was multi tasking....but I stopped and took the time LISTEN. Good tips.
